Echinacea purpurea x parado 'Sunset'
Common Names: Coneflower

Description:
The flowers are 4 inches wide, with bright orange petals surrounding a large russet-brown cone. Unlike older Echinaceas, the petals of these blooms are held out and slightly upturned at the tips, sort of like a plate, rather than straight down.

The flowers stems about as thick as a pencil, which assures them of a longer life before or after cutting. This plant is 30 inches tall and wide, well-branched and sturdy, and is prepared to bloom from the first breath of hot summer well into fall. Plant Sunset in any moist, well-drained garden soil exposed to full sun, spacing the plants 25 to 30 inches apart.

Recommendations:
We like to use it along walks or borders. While it does bloom steadly until late fall we did find deheading helps.

Problems:
Remember that good drainage is recommended for all echinaceas. We first planted it in a sunny but damp location where it bloomed but never thrived, Once we moved it to a drier location it really took off.
