Rudbeckia subtomentosa ''
Common Names: Sweet Black-eyed Susan, Sweet Coneflower

Description:
One of the showiest of all the Rudbeckias, this is also among the most rugged. While many other plants fold in the heat of summer, Sweet Black Eyed Susan effortlessly maintains its luxuriant deep green foliage.

It receives its common names from the flower's sweet anise scent. Numerous 3 inch flowers consisting of yellow petals around dome-shaped central disks provide nectar for butterflies and seed for Goldfinches. This sweetly scented flower occurs naturally in low meadows, open slopes, stream banks, and prairies. Highly recommended.

Recommendations:
Holds up better than other Rudbeckias to the heat.

Problems:
Does not like soggy soil but water before soil dries out.
