Echinacea purpurea
'Art's Pride' Common Names: Orange Coneflower |
| Description: | |
| This amazing coneflower comes from the breeding program of Dr. Jim Ault of the Chicago Botanic Garden. The lack of summer orange in the garden has been cured. Each two foot wide clump of slender green foliage is topped starting in late June and continuing through the summer with spikes of rustic-orange flowers. | |
| Recommendations: | |
| We like to use it along walks or borders. While it does bloom steadly until late fall we did find deheading helps. | |
| Problems: | |
| Remember that good drainage is recommended for all echinaceas. We first planted it in a sunny but damp location where it bloomed but never thrived, Once we moved it to a drier location it really took off. |
