   This striking native woody plant is among the last to leaf out in the spring. By June it is enveloped in a cloud of large, loose panicles of fragrant snow white flowers. In autumn, the oblong leaves turn bright golden-yellow, and female trees bear bunches of grape-like dark blue fruits.
