Achillea filipendulina 'Cloth of Gold'
Common Names: Fern-Leaf Yarrow

Description:
These superb perennials are unbeatable for their brilliant flowers and for the ease with which they can be grown. On top of that, they bloom for three or four months continuously. Usually yellow but occasionally red (A. millefolium 'Red Beauty') or white (A. ptarmica 'The Pearl'), they are the queens of the summer garden.

Recommendations:
- In a rich soil, don't forget to stake the larger varieties and, in particular, A. filipendulina.

- Where possible, plant in spring, especially if your soil is wet and heavy.

- With the exception of A. tomentosa, the Achilleas are very hardy. Nevertheless, they do require a healthy well-drained soil.

Problems:
- Larger varieties need staked.
