Syringa meyeri 'Palibin'
Common Names: Lilac

Description:
Everyone loves lilac for its magnificent flowers and incomparable fragrance, which make up to some extent for a rather short flowering season. Use it liberally in a flowering hedge, mixed with dog roses, deutzias and snowy mespilus. At the base of the hedge, try planting Campanula persicifolia.

Recommendations:
- Plant lilac from late autumn to early spring, though not during very cold spells. New foliage is very slow to appear in the first year. Pinch out all flower buds the first year to stimulate foliage growth. Mulch and water regularly until ealry autumn.

- When the shrub has flowered, remove the fading flower heads, taking care not to damage the new shoots, to encourage new branches from near ground level. Carefully dig out any suckers; they quickly exhaust the soil at the base of the plant.
